Harberger Speech Therapy Books

Time for Speech Therapy” is an excellent resource for families with a young child in speech therapy or any pediatric speech-language pathologist. This book is designed to walk a child through a speech therapy session to help alleviate any fears the child may have with this new experience. It is an excellent story to incorporate into the first speech therapy session or a keepsake from a favorite speech therapist. Written by a Speech-Language Pathologist, the story encourages early literacy skills, vocabulary development, and simple oral motor movement.

Take a peek inside "Time for Speech!"

“My Time for Speech Dot Book” works best with dauber makers, but anything your child likes to use when coloring will work.  You can even use stamps and stickers!

In speech therapy, I often use dot art pages when practicing new sounds and words (i.e., say a word, make a dot).  You can discuss the pictures and ask simple “WH” questions to address language skills.  Dot Art also words on fine motor skills, visual tracking, and promotes attention and focus.

“My Time for Speech Cut & Paste Book” can help target speech and language goals while you keep hands busy with a project.  Your child can say their target sound or word before gluing each picture on the page.  You can ask simple “WH” questions to start a discussion about the picture.  Reading a book to go along with the picture can expand vocabulary.  Cut & Paste worksheets can be used to improve spacial concepts and following directions.  It also improves skills like hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity, and focus.
